Ceramic Knives

Wednesday, September 22, 2010. 1 comment

Most who know me know that I love to cook. It became a necessity when I discovered that the love of my life wasn’t particularly skilled in the culinary arts…. I hope she doesn’t see this…

Anyway, we have discovered a new product available to promote your brand that will surely land in the daily use category. Ceramic Knives. Crazy sharp, never a need for honing or sharpening almost impossible to break AND really affordable. A good multi layer stainless knife can cost over $300. Here’s a set of 3 ceramics that will outlast any stainless knife, priced well under a hundred dollars – logoed! Have a look at this video demo of the ceramic knives in action. Let us help you dice up your competition!

I know I know, sorry. Liz made may say it!

Cheers

Mugs A-Plenty!

Friday, August 20, 2010. 1 comment

Over the past month or so, we have been running a mug promotion, in an effort to get some people to come and look at our new site, fill out a short survey, and generally to touch base with us and see what’s going on.

Well, the promotion has been a resounding success.  Usually when you send out a mass email or a mailer, you would expect less than 1% of people to respond to your campaign.  If you got 1%, then statistically that would be a great success.  With with our “Have a Coffee on Us” promo, we have had a response rate of over 10%, which is phenomenal! The “not-a-paper-cup” cup has been a hugely popular item this year, so I guess we chose wisely with this promotion.

I guess it just goes to show you that people take notice when you’re offering them the right kinds of products.

The Cost of Cutting Corners

Monday, August 9, 2010. 3 comments

Well I see that BP has finally contained their little oops in the Gulf. Good for them! They have invested very heavily & it seems like they may have actually minimized the damage to a certain extent. I’ll be cautiously optimistic. But wow, did it ever cost them (and their investors) a fortune. One hundred billion dollars in spend & share value. Incredible. I found this list of stuff they could have purchased instead. Keep in mind that they could have done ALL of these things instead of letting safety slide a little in the Gulf. Enjoy

Do you use “plastic” to make a purchase?

Wednesday, August 4, 2010. 2 comments

Traditionally using “plastic” meant using a credit card.

However this is all changing and by the end of 2011 Canada will have plastic money. Yes friends no more cotton-paper money. It’s over, finished, it’s a fact! The new bills will be made from a synthetic polymer that will not only make it extremely difficult to counterfeit but will last 2-3 times longer (thereby saving money), will be waterproof (so you can leave a few bills in your pocket as your pocket goes through the wash and rinse cycle) and it will be cleaner. Apparently bacteria has difficulty sticking to a polymer surface, and that’s good news.

Plastic money is not new.  Autralia started the waterproof money trend and now several other countries (China, Brazil and Israel) have adopted the plastic currency.

Apparently we’ll still have to pay for our plastic bags but now we can pay for them with plastic money. How great is that?

The Super Happy Fun Place

Friday, June 25, 2010. 3 comments

We are about to change the name of our blog – “Recent Articles” has been deemed “boring” & “no fun” by our very own Lindsay (Yes her – Charlie’s master & frequent hero of the U of T). Before doing that though I’d like to post something that isn’t super fun.

Like you I have been troubled lately by the continuing & seemingly ever expanding disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. From the ecological disaster to the financial disaster looming for millions of retired investors in BP & local gulf industries this has got to stop. Can someone tell me how we can put people on the moon in 1969 but in 2010 we’re incapable of fixing an oil leak on the ocean floor? How did they build the thing for cryin out loud?

Hello Everyone, I know how to blog now thanks to Jason! I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not! so far so good.

It’s great to know that sales are increasing and I continue to put out the word that SVS marketing is Leading the way with all of our unique synergies. I’m loving the positive response and continue to let our services be known out there. I want to thank everyone for all of the support and help along the way. We have a great team and it’s an exciting time.

Until the next blog….

Hello Out There?

Friday, May 7, 2010. 1 comment

As I’m sure you have noticed (the many of you reading our blog – according to statistics you know), we are becoming blogging celebrities!

This earth shaking discovery leads me to wonder why we don’t have more comments.  Subject matter? Writing style? General confusion? What on earth are they doing? Hmmm.

As advertised, our blog is an exercise in understanding social media & to provide insight into our world here at SVS. Without your comments & suggestions we may just take over this whole interwebby thing in a manner that isn’t appealing to some (or most).

Wait! Stop!

As marketers & advertising consultants we must take an inclusive approach to avoid running roughshod over all of our fans!

So, to avoid having us oldize the blogging universe, I encourage you to leave a comment & let us know how you feel about all things interesting to you in your world! Anything goes. Let’s get it out there! Environment, Dogs, cats (yeah right. Cats – get ‘em sunny!) British elections, super trees, G20 Toronto, whatever.

P.S The pet water bottles are a hit! (Even though Charlie still doesn’t get it….Lindsay?)

Cheers!

Hooray! Nice Job Lindsay! Great work from the folks at Waterleaf too! Wow, what a great looking piece. You guys pulled this together from nothing in 3 or 4 days? Awesome! I love it when a special piece like this comes together. Nothing like looking good & more importantly, making our customer look really good!

SVSGolf.com!!

Friday, April 30, 2010. 0 comments

Just a reminder to everyone out there: Just because our product search engine isn’t up and running yet, that doesn’t mean that you can’t find Golf items online from SVS!

We’ve got a fully functional online store, which can be found at www.svsgolf.com. We’ve got a ton of great products there, so take a look around.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for, or if you’re looking for some non-golf items then contact us and your sales rep will be able to help.

That’s the end of this friendly neighbourhood product-search announcement.

One Year Later…

Monday, April 26, 2010. 3 comments

Once upon a time in an office far far away (at least that’s what some people think/thought) there was a very fine company called Van-Smith Marketing. It was time to grow and take the Loyalty message to the world. We looked for a partner to achieve that dream. We came across Stincor Promotional Specialities and the partnership was struck. At the same time the recession struck! (perhaps you heard about that…it’s been in the news a bit). Unbowed we moved lock, stock and barrel (we left the safe) and today are celebrating our first year. Not without the hiccups, speed bumps and all that, we’ve come out the other side better and stronger. Our thanks to Iain, Marla, Manjot and Marjorie from the Stincor side for their patience and on the VS side, special thanks to all those that stuck it out, Annette, Marie, Dave, May, Robert, Sandra, Wendy, Larry, Jason and Lindsay. It’s been a ride but its been worth it! We’re all stronger for it. Happy First and many more to all our partners.

PS It’s also the 1st anniversary of the discovery of H1N1….who knew?
